With the imminent launch of 2019 Cadillac Escalade, we can’t help but wonder the long journey that the Escalade took into getting here, ever since its first debut in 1990. The new model seems to be a renewed attempt at distancing the car from the GMC version on which the first one was based on.
Let’s just say that the first version was bulky and unattractive and since then, thankfully, Cadillac had reworked it to something that’s more manageable and something that we can all get abroad on. Given that the new model would be the 4th generation, we fully expect Cadillac to come out with a new one for the next year or the year after that with a complete makeover. Either way, we decided to prep the review based on all the leaked news, vetted rumours and leaked images of Cadillac Escalade and here it is, so let’s tackle it, shall we?
2019 Cadillac Escalade Overview
The 2019 Cadillac Escalade is an SUV, in case you are just now coming across this brand and for what it’s worth, it certainly manages to stand out from the bevvy of SUV’s out there for all the right reasons. As a luxury SUV it certainly has a lot to live up to, given what its competition has come out with but from what we can see, it certainly seems to do a good job of it. The images rarely do it justice so let’s take a closer look at those specs, shall we?
Exterior, under the hood:
The 2019 Cadillac Escalade comes with a four-wheel drive especially with some of the trims so it is designed for the rough stuff thereby making it a family car and the sort of vehicle that may opt for when heading out off-road. Since not much changes were expected for this model given the fact that it is slated for a makeover in the coming year, we were not surprised to see it retain the same design as the outgoing model.
The wheelbase remains the same but there were a few tweaks to the front with restyled LED headlights and a tweaked grille, as a result it now sports a slightly aggressive front hood which makes it all the more appealing. The corners are rounded slightly, lending it a more aerodynamic look but the side panels are the same. The wheels are the same and the new model offers two options, rear wheel drive for some of the trims and four wheel drives on select ones. Overall, the exterior, though while remaining the same still manages to look as good as ever, with a few changes to the color palette.
The 2019 Cadillac Escalade also comes with the same interior as last model but with more than a few changes; some of the trims such as the luxury and premium trims also come equipped with keyless ignition along with navigation, heated and cooled seats as well as climate control and a host of other features.
It also comes with a large infotainment touchscreen panel as well as a rear seat DVD dual panel entertainment system and a host of advanced safety features.
Engine Details, Release Date, and Price
The 2019 Cadillac Escalade comes with a 6.2L V8 L86 EcoTec3 engine that performs with 420 HP and also packs in a torque of 460 lb-ft. The model is expected to hit the roads this fall but it may also get delayed to the end of the year. The new model is slated to be priced at $86995.
