Given the fact that Cadillac was planning to discontinue some of their lines, we were pleasantly surprised to hear the president of Cadillac confirm that the 2019 Cadillac XTS would continue well beyond 2019. So that’s a bit of good news since most of the current sedans doing the rounds seem to be more appropriate for drag racing than for a comfortable family ride.
The XTS was designed especially for this purpose and given the fact that had undergone a makeover last year or so, we do not really expect much with the current upgrade except for a few tweaks and changes. Either way, we decided to collate all the info that we could get our hands on and prep the review, so let’s dive into it, shall we?
2019 Cadillac XTS Overview
The 2019 Cadillac XTS is a popular sedan and for all the right reasons so we expect the new model will just accentuate what made it great and retain the same design as the current outgoing model with a few changes. We do expect an upgrade to the drive train along with new colour tones being introduced. The new model will feature the same trims as previous models, with the 6-speed transmission being changed to a nine-speed one.
Exterior, under the hood:
The 2019 Cadillac XTS continues to be built on the GM Epsilon platform, along with a few changes to the four-door sedan. We did not really expect many changes to the exterior and there’s none other than the slightly restyled LED headlights and flowing lines along with the rear lights getting the same treatment. It still retains the same body design with the same length as before and the same wheels, or what we could make out from the leaked online images.
It does come with better colour options than before so you should have a better choice regarding the colour tone and let’s not forget the fact that some of the trims do come with all-wheel drive option which should make it easy to drive this car in harsh climes.
The new model also comes with magnetic control suspension which should make the whole drive seem smooth compared to rest. Overall, the car still retains the old design and still manages to make it work which is more than you can say about the other models out there.
The 2019 Cadillac XTS does not seem to have undergone much of a change on the interior either; it still retains the same layout with hardly much of a change sans one. The new model features a better enhanced wireless charging station with a wider surface which should enable you to charge your phone and other devices within a short time frame, so that’s a plus.
The higher trims come with leather upholstery which should make for comfortable travel along with heated seats, power steering, rear cameras for blind corners as well as a large touchscreen infotainment panel. It also comes with several premium audio speakers along with USB ports and blue tooth compatibility.
Engine, Release Date, and Price
The 2019 Cadillac XTS comes with a turbocharged version of the 3.6L V6 engine that comes with 410 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, while standard versions of the car get a non-turbo 3.6L good for 304 hp and 264 lb-ft. The new model is expected to be launched by the third quarter of this year, and the price is set to be pegged at $47390 for the base trims but this is subject to change.
