Ever since Chrysler made it patently clear that the 2019 Chrysler 200 would include a new reworked design and some major changes, we could hardly wait to get more dirt on the upcoming model. The good news is that the launch date is almost here and we finally managed to get our hands on some information regarding the new model including some leaked images. So we have finally prepped a review on Chrysler 200 after vetting all the information, so let’s take a look under the hood, shall we?
2019 Chrysler 200 Overview:
The 2019 Chrysler 200 is reputed to come with a better design than the previous models and from what we can see from the images, it certainly sets the tone. It certainly looks like a sedan for it has all the hallmarks of being one. Naturally, the new model also comes with several trims, same as previous models and comes with a decent chassis. Of course, the question that most would ask is why on earth Chrysler would go in for more tweaks but given the fact that its competition is already leading the field, this is only to be expected.
Exterior, under the hood:
The 2019 Chrysler 200 was designed to be functional as well as aesthetically attractive and the pictures hardly do justice to the exterior. It is a well-designed luxury sedan and certainly looks every part of it on the outside.
The front end comes with a reworked bumper with the same recognizable grille which makes it apparent to all that it is a Chrysler model. There does not seem to be much change to the exterior but the side panels seem to be better contoured with flowing lines.
It also features wider air intake on the front and a tweaked rear end. Overall the design is aerodynamic and minimizes the drag effect on the car. We had expected much more but the new look or the almost new look seems to work. The new model does not have brand new restyled headlights which should have been incorporated into it.
That’s the kind of oversight that we did not expect from Chrysler, but moving on, the overall design with roof height seems to be on par with last year’s model with a few changes. The good news is that the new model utilizes a greater proportion of lighter weight materials and as a result, it weighs a lot less than the current outgoing model.
The 2019 Chrysler 200 seems to be a bit of a letdown since there does not seem to be anything much to talk about. There are a few changes such as the heated steering wheel, along with a 8.4 touch screen infotainment panel. Other than this, the other details remain more or less the same as the outgoing model.
For what it’s worth though, there is enough leg room in the car along with headroom. All the main instruments are gathered together as a cluster and the positioning of the same makes it easy to control the car and to drive it.
Engine, Release Date, and Price
The 2019 Chrysler 200 comes with a 2.4-liter four-in-line petrol engine with 184 horsepower and 173 pound-feet of torque for the base model.
For the higher trims, you should get 3.6-liter V6 petrol engine that produces 295 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque which can pack quite a punch and more. You can expect the new model to be released around the latter half of this year I a matter of few weeks and as for the price, expect the basic trim to be pegged at $22000 and higher for the advanced trims.
