When the news of the imminent launch of 2019 Ford Explorer broke out, it got us a tad excited for it’s been a while since this model had any major makeover, and that’s since 2011. Given this, we did hope for one this year but after collating all the information that we could on the new model it seems that the new model will be getting only a few changes to the exterior and the interior as well as for the various trim levels but for any major makeover, we would have to wait until 2020. So let’s take a closer look at the new model, shall we?
2019 Ford Explorer Overview:
The 2019 Ford Explorer is rumoured to come with a brand new platform; we are still not sure if the rumour applies to the current model that’s due to be released shortly or for the one to be released later next year. Either way, we’ll go into that later but we did manage to find out that the new model comes with the following trim levels – explorer base, Explorer XLT, explorer limited, explorer sport and explorer platinum. You can expect each trim level to come with unique features and advantages over the other trims, so essentially you should have more choice with the new model.
Exterior, under the hood:
The 2019 Ford Explorer comes with a few tweaks and design changes but with the details being kept under wraps so as to speak, we had to go scavenging for any nugget of information that we could find. It seems that the new model will come with better chrome accents, larger air intake valves, a tweaked front bumper with the sharper corners on the front being rounded off.
The side panels are the same but the rear end gets the same treatment as the front end. More importantly, it may be that the new model may also feature a brand new platform, we are not sure yet but the platform in question is a next-gen D6 platform. This platform should help the car weigh less as it mainly utilizes aluminium and this should enable you to get much more out of your car.
The wheelbase, from what we could make out from the leaked images remains the same but the wheels seem slightly larger which basically means that you get more traction with the brand new wheels. It also comes with 2 wheel drive with 4 wheel drive being optional.
The 2019 Ford Explorer comes with the same interior as before, with plush leather heated seats for the interior with power steering, adaptive cruise control and a no key access feature on the higher trims. The dashboard is as elegant as ever and the interior still manages to look roomy as before despite the various cup holders being added to the mix. The car also features a large touchscreen infotainment panel along with the premium audio system, WiFi, USB ports, and much more. It also features several advanced safety features but some of them are available only with the higher trims so that’s something you may want to check out.

The 2019 Ford Explorer is all set to be launched in a few weeks, with the launch taking place sometime around fall 2018.
