With news of 2019 Hyundai Elantra heading into production, we could see that the launch of the next generation Elantra could take place in the next few weeks. So we decided to scavenge around for more information on the new model and prepped our review based on interviews, leaked images and even the grist from, the local rumor mill, after vetting it. We can say that the new leaked images just took our breath away for it seems that the sedan is getting more than a facelift and how. So, let’s start taking a closer look at the car, shall we?
2019 Hyundai Elantra Overview:
The 2019 Hyundai Elantra is indeed getting a facelift and with it a restyled exterior and interior as well. We can confirm the same and the leaked images hardly do it justice. We anticipate changes to the exterior, interior as well as the drive train and can hardly wait to test the car out but it may take a few weeks before we can get our hands on it. It comes with the same trims as the outgoing model but with more than a few physical modifications which should make the whole line up interesting, to say the least.
Exterior, under the hood:
The 2019 Hyundai Elantra comes with a modified front fascia along with a new grille with chrome accents, giving it a slightly aggressive look. For what it’s worth, we do think that the new grille component looks trendy and classy; a nice touch. The new Elantra also comes with a redesigned bumper which scrolls around the front end with smaller air intakes as well as sequential LED DRLS, along with projector lights.
The wheelbase seems to be a tad longer and the new model comes with larger, metal alloy wheels which make for a nice impact. There has not been much of a change as far as the side panels are concerned but the rear end seems to have gotten the same treatment as the front end, with restyled tail lights and the model name, embellished front and center on the rear.
The headlamps look a tad triangular, kind of like the sort that you spot on a Jaguar but it seems to work for this model. On the whole, the re-design and the mini-makeover is a nice touch to keep the design fresh and it certainly manages to stand out for all the right reasons.
The 2019 Hyundai Elantra is bound to come up with more than a few surprises on the interior but what we can confirm is that the sedan will come with larger spaces and more leg room in the interior with plush leather upholstery for the higher trims. It will also, in all likelihood feature a 6-way adjustable driver’s seat that can both be heated and cooled.
The interior should also feature instrument cluster right front and center with rear vision camera for monitoring the blind spots as well as a large touchscreen infotainment panel that’s compatible with both android auto and Apple car play. It also comes with several add-ons, including advanced features and you can pick and choose the ones that you want.
Drivetrain, specs, launch date, prices:
The 2019 Hyundai Elantra comes with both 2.0-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engine options, which cranks out 21bhp of power and 154Nm of torque. It is expected that the current lineup may also feature a hybrid car as well. The new model is expected to be launched by March 2019 and the starting price for the basic trims is expected to be around $16950.
