Long considered to be Vanilla, the newly redesigned 2019 Toyota Avalon promises to be all the more interesting as it comes with an enhanced powertrain, and a brand new look in the process. This model long had to put up with tags such as conservative or too staid, well we are just not sure if we can apply these tags to the new model. For starters, the new look does indeed border on the “knockout gorgeous”, which is our opinion based on some of the leaked images online but we do think that it is a view that’s soon going to be shared by the public at large. So let’s get into it, shall we?
2019 Toyota Avalon Review
The 2019 Toyota Avalon is certainly setting all the tongues wagging, with its sportier looks, an enhanced powertrain and with all the requisite features to set it apart. It’s stylish, longer and lower than all the previous versions and manages to grab attention right away. It certainly comes with a bolder look, smooth flowing lines, and an aerodynamic design in the process. Well, we can certainly give the vanilla tag a miss as far as the new model is concerned.
Exteriors, what to expect?
The 2019 Toyota Avalon is an inch lower than the previous variants along with a 2 inch longer wheelbase, shorter overhangs and a sloping roof that makes for the perfect silhouette. It certainly has re-tweaked the grille which stretches almost all around the front fascia.
In fact, Toyota actually went on to declare that they have unified both the upper and lower grille for better performance, which is something that we can comment on only after testing the car out. But what we can tell you is that the new grille constructed by using 3D surfaces is certainly interesting to look at. The Toyota new car model comes with various trims and all the similar tweaks to LED accent lighting, headlights, and tail lights.
The advanced trims come with adaptive cornering lights which can prove to be quite handy; the automaker could have extended this feature for all the trims but overall, the changes to the exterior are certainly good news.
This is one car that comes with no pretensions; the older models did not have any nor does this 5th generation model. It is what it is and it certainly bucks the trend as far as the SUV crossover is concerned.
The 2019 Toyota Avalon comes with well-designed and spacious interiors with enough leg room in the back as well. The interiors are more subdued, but that’s to be expected especially given the conservative tag that the Avalon had to carry for so long. Overall, the interiors look good and some of the advanced trims such as XSE and Touring come with aluminium trim on the interior.
The seats are comfortable and the car comes with a nine-inch infotainment centre right on the instrument stack, enabling you to access all the main features including Apple Car play with just a touch.
The 2019 Toyota Avalon comes with an updated 3.5-liter V-6 engine that now provides 301 HP along with 276 lb-feet of torque. The engine has had a makeover since there is more than a 30 HP difference over the last V-6 engine.
It also comes with an ultra-responsive eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters that are responsive to the slightest movement. The new model also comes with an adaptive variable suspension which makes for a great driving experience.
