With the competition for crossovers heating up, we should not be too surprised that the 2019 Toyota RAV4 resembles an SUV than a compact crossover but that’s a plus. Collating all the info that we could on the car from leaked images, news and rumours and interviews with some of the engineers we decided to prep this review to give you an eyeball’s view of what you can expect with the next generation RAV4.
It is expected that the new model will come with more clearance and at least that’s obvious from the images and guess we can also expect an adventure trim to be added to the lot with the upcoming model. So let’s take a closer look, shall we?
2019 Toyota RAV4 Overview:
The 2019 Toyota RAV4 certainly looks a lot better than the previous model and that’s saying a lot. It has more clearance and certainly comes with a better design than the blocky one that the last year’s model sported.
The new model certainly has better-contoured sides with flowing lines and an aerodynamic design which should help give its performance a boost as it reduces the drag. Even a cursory look makes it patently clear that the new model is completely engineered from the wheels and the base and certainly stands apart from the rest of the pack.
Exteriors, under the hood:
The 2019 Toyota RAV4 comes at 180.9 inches, just a hairbreadth shorter than last year’s model and moreover, the new model is also expected to weigh less as it uses lighter materials in its construction.
From the images, it looks like the new model comes with a larger wheelbase which should translate to spacious interiors and more cargo room but since the automaker has not released any specs yet, we can at most say that you can expect the new model to have more headroom and legroom.
It’s overall styling from a brand new front fascia to its grille to its rear end seems a tad conservative and it is not going to exactly stand out from all the SUVs out there but then again, the new RAV4 was supposed to be a compact and it certainly stands out from the rest of the compacts out there for all the right reasons.
It also comes with a two-tone paint scheme along with a white or black roof.
The 2019 Toyota RAV4 comes with a spacious interior along with a re-engineered power steering wheel. The new model comes with leather trim for the seats as well as the steering wheel as well as a brand new floating touch screen running on Toyota Entune 3.0. All the standard trims come with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment panel but it is expected that an 8-inch panel will be introduced later on.
It also comes packed with several drivers assist features such as Toyota safety sense 2.0, which is standard in all the trims. This package includes several key features such as collision warning, automatic emergency braking, dynamic cruise control, automatic high beams and much more.
Engine, Price and Release Date
The 2019 Toyota RAV4 comes loaded with 2.5 litre, inline 4 engine that’s paired with 8-speed transmission and should rate higher than 200 when it comes to horsepower.
Most of the details are still kept under wraps but from what we can make out, it seems that the new model will be released during the end of 2018. It is expected that the new model with all its various trims is expected to be priced around $24510 to $36250
