It seems that automakers love to rehash old names and that certainly seems to be the case with the 2019 Honda Civic which the automaker is calling “insight”, evoking memories of the very first Hybrid that it came out with. The new model forms part of the already crowded compact SUV group but from what we can make out of the leaked images and various rumors, it is certainly bound to stand out from the rest of the crowd. The 2019 Honda Civic or Insight, as it is called comes with a listed fuel economy of 55 MPG, which is indeed remarkable as it comes with a few enhancements and some small changes. The overall styling changes may seem minimal but are certainly much needed with more advanced sensing features along with sleeker and bolder looks.
This will be the 4th generation rehash for the Civic sedan but with more than a few changes in the offing, the new Hybrid has already started making waves.
Exteriors, What to Expect?
The 2019 Honda Civic Hybrid comes with the same civic proportions and retains most of the old look except for a few welcome changes. Most of the hard edges have been blurred away giving the car a premium look and feel.
It has a longer wheelbase and with more legroom than the other trims which makes the Hybrid the preferred model for obvious reasons. It comes with a better power to weight ratio and certainly looks smart with brand new color tones, refined flow lines, an independent suspension that enhances one’s driving.
The new model also comes with variable-ratio dual pinion electric power steering along with enhanced brakes for the ultimate braking experience. The exterior tweaks are along expected lines with improvements being made to increase the aerodynamics of the vehicle. Overall it certainly ranks quite well when it comes to the question of exteriors.
The 2019 Honda Civic Hybrid comes with various driver assisted safety features which is available on all trims with the exception of Si and R. These safety features include automatic braking system, adaptive cruise control, advanced lane keeping system along with mitigation features for ‘off the road’ trips.
The new model also packs in other features such as the Honda lane watch system which acts just as any other blind spot monitoring system.
It utilizes a camera mounted to the passenger side view mirror which should help monitor the lanes on either side effectively. The top model such as Touring Trim comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment centre, along with a ten-speaker audio system. It also comes with heated seats, good ventilation along with Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless charging options, USB ports and much more.
The 2019 Honda Civic hybrid is likely to have the same powertrain as the earlier models with base 150 HP along with 2 litres, and other trims at 174 hp with 1.5 litres, 205 hp with 1.5 litres along with 306 hp with 2 litres for type R model.
The various trims come with six-speed manual and CVT, but it seems that the Si and Type R are currently being offered only with manual control. The sedan comes with various advanced features that make it all the more worthwhile;
Release Date, and Price
The launch is expected to take place later this year with the price tag starting from $22870. It is expected that the new model will indeed be a much-needed improvement over the current outgoing model and it remains to be seen if the new one can live up to all the hype and buzz that it is currently generating.
